I have been a resident of Huntsville, Alabama for nearly 27 years but grew up in California and started my college education there at University of California at Santa Barbara. I graduated from University of Alabama at Huntsville with a Bachelor’s in Psychology then pursued my master’s degree in counseling at University of Alabama at Birmingham.
My experience as a counselor includes many years working with children and teenagers struggling with emotional and behavioral difficulties, while also providing support and services to the parents and families in their lives to improve the overall functioning of the family. I also have many years of experience working with children, teenagers and adults as they face the difficulties of managing symptoms from a history of trauma, loss, depression, difficult relationships, anger, ADHD, anxiety or panic attacks. At times, we face stressors in our lives that leave us feeling distressed, as if we are just surviving. I am committed to help my clients feel comfortable in starting the counseling process and finding the confidence to face their struggles. Then be able to use that confidence and newly found skills to manage their symptoms instead of their symptoms managing them. Clients will begin to see improved functioning at home, work, school, and in their relationships.
“If counseling is a process of discovery and recovery, then grace is essential to help clients experience enough safety to explore the hidden places of their lives”. Mark R. McMinn
